Nose: Purple Grape, Leather Bound Books, Dusty Oak, Tobacco Leaf
Palate: Tobacco Leaf, Red Twizzler, Pie Crust, Purple Grape, Cocoa Powder, Subtle Rye Spice, very subtle Spearmint
Mouthfeel: Round and Oily. Soft and Elegant. Not tannic / astringent at all, especially for 13YR
Finish: Rich Aged Oak with Floral notes and Subtle Rye Spice
[⭐] Toasted 8YR 95/5 MGP Rye Tasting Notes:🤤
Nose: Earthy Toffee, Baked Red Apples, Baked Kiwi, Purple Raisins, Warm Leather
Palate: Toasted Oak, Charred Marshmallow, Graham Cracker, Purple Raisins, Golden Kiwi, Red Apples, Molasses, Dark Chocolate, Fudge Brownie
Mouthfeel: Round and Oily. Soft and Elegant. Slight tannins on the backend
Finish: Fairly sweet finish w/ Pie Crust, Fudge Brownie and Kiwi
[⭐] Overall Thoughts! 💭
All THREE of these Single Barrels are fantastic drinking experiences for an older aged Rye in 13YRS and 8YR Toasted. There's almost no tannins or astringency in either 13YR Barrels which makes the Mouthfeel very elegant and lush. There's barely any Bitter Oak or Sharpie Marker note either which can be overpowering for aged Ryes. The Fruity, Pastry, and Decadent notes are still so pronounced which still makes these so approachable. The amazing thing is that these aren't crazy expensive like some other NDP's that have put out 13+YR Ryes. We did a survey, and most of the comments were guessing around 130+ which this is certainly under! 💪
